Aamir, Kareena, Rani gear up for Talaash
Posted by Admin on January 21st, 2012 | Category: talaash

A couple of years have gone by since Aamir Khan had a commercial release to his name. His ’3 Idiots’ had arrived in December 2009 and though he was seen in ‘Dhobi Ghat’ early last year, the film’s offbeat nature means that audience have been rooting for a big Aamir Khan flick for quite some time now. Well, the ‘talaash’ for that could well be over once Aamir Khan is seen in ‘Talaash’ which is all set to hit the screens this summer. Obviously, the expectations are sky high as well.

Says Ritesh Sidhwani, the film’s producer (along with Farhan Akhtar), “Yes, the fact that Aamir is seen very rarely makes audience root for him even more. Since he does only one film at a time, there is so much eagerness surrounding him and his work. Anything that he does creates a lot of expectations and ‘Talaash’ won’t be any different. We know that the film would be observed very carefully and we are prepared for that.”

Meanwhile ‘Talaash’ is expected to see a growth in buzz over the next few weeks since the film is less than six months away. It is also special due to Kareena Kapoor pairing up with Aamir Khan once again after ’3 Idiots’ and Rani Mukherjee too seen on big screen a year and a half after ‘No One Killed Jessica’.

“Yes, the coming together of such talent does lead to much higher anticipation. We have the plans in well and not is time to begin execution for the same,” says Ritesh.

Katrina Kaif finally confirmed for Dhoom 3
Posted by Admin on September 24th, 2011 | Category: movies

After denying the rumours that Katrina Kaif was to play the lead role in Dhoom 3, and albeit an extensive hunt for a new face for the leading lady, which included international aspirants as well, Yash Raj Films is now pleased to announce and confirm that Katrina will play this role.

Dhoom: 3 director, Vijay Krishna Acharya (Victor), along with Aditya Chopra, has made this choice after considerable deliberations. When asked on the selection process, Victor said, “After almost a year of searching for a new face for Dhoom:3, we were still unable to find the perfect debutant to play the lead role. We even reached out to international talent but were still unable to find someone who stood out. Both Adi and I really wanted to be sure that the person we chose would be perfect for the role. Once we decided to go with a known face and not pursue the new-comer route, Katrina was the obvious choice for all of us. She is someone who we all know will bring tremendous enthusiasm and commitment to the film. The first time pairing of Aamir with Katrina will also certainly add value.”

Produced by Aditya Chopra, Dhoom:3 is written and directed by Victor, who had also written Dhoom & Dhoom 2.

Apart from Aamir Khan, who plays the anti-hero in the film, both Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will continue in their now iconic roles of Jai Dixit and Ali.

The film will begin shooting end of this year and is slated for a 2012 Christmas release.

Actor Aamir Khan gets groovy
Posted by Admin on July 5th, 2011 | Category: movies

Actor-turned-producer Aamir Khan is the latest actor to join the bandwagon of item boys. His number ‘Disco Fighter’, he insists is an ode to the era gone by. And he has openly accepted taking references from yesteryears actors but this seems to have upset a few people, especially actor Anil Kapoor, who is apparently not amused with being one of the ‘inspirations’ for the song.

“This song is my tribute to the disco era that included actors like Mithun da, Govinda, Jeetendra and Anil Kapoor. These actors were brilliant dancers and I have tried to imbibe my style from them. My hair is inspired by one actor and my clothes from another.”

Apparently, Kapoor is upset has he is the inspiration behind Khan sporting a huge amount of chest hair in the item song. “Yeah, Anil may feel bad but it is a disco dance number and I haven’t done this to offend anyone,” says Khan.

The actor is also hoping that Mithun da catches a glimpse of his performance. “It will be a big deal if he likes the number. I am hoping he does,” he said. Remind him that the song also seems to be a take-off from the Hollywood actor John Travolta’s Saturday Night Fever and he agrees adding, “Yeah, in fact, someone even suggested that I send him a copy too. I think I’ll do that,” he says.

Khan is also forthcoming when asked about superstar Amitabh Bachchan not approving of using expletives in films and songs. “I absolutely agree with Mr Bachchan. I don’t think he said anything wrong. In fact, after ‘DK Bose’, I have made’ Disco Fighter’ especially for him. This song is clean, with absolutely no expletives. I hope he likes this,” he adds with a smile.

Ask Khan about the buzz that a top heroine was to dance with him in the number and he says cheekily, “I approached all of them. In fact I even called each one, but strangely, no one took my call. I was left with no option but to do it myself.”

Talking about the content of the film, Khan says that he considers himself fortunate that the censor board did not suggest any cuts in the adult flick. “The entire film is being shown the way it was shot,” he beams.

Aware of people’s criticism of his upcoming movie Delhi Belly, a crime comedy, actor-producer Aamir Khan on June 30, 2011 said he was an entertainer and not a social activist who would be too concerned about the society only. “We are creative people and we want to do whatever we can to entertain people. We should have the freedom to do that,” Aamir told Headlines Today as he visited the news channel’s studio to promote Delhi Belly along with nephew Imran.

“I’m not a social activist. I’m an entertainer,” he said justifying the theme of his expletive-ridden adult comedy film. Despite having cuss words, the film has a sensitive outlook, he insisted. “It’s a sensitive comedy. It is funny for adults’ appetite. The film is not for people who don’t like cuss words. It has a sense of humour which need not be taken seriously, it is for those who are young at heart,” Aamir said.

Aamir accepted that he “enjoyed doing marketing” for his films and it was as creative field as production or acting in a movie. On his appearance as an item boy, Aamir said his wife Kiran Rao convinced him to do that. Delhi Belly is a crime comedy which follows the story of three boys from the city who get themselves into trouble and struggle to find there way out of it alive.

On being compared with veteran star Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir said in a lighter vein: “Rishtey mein toh woh hamare baap lagte hain… Really, he is a Shehenshah.” Asked if he would continue working at the age of 68 like Big B, whose Bbuddah…Hoga Tera Baap releases on July 1, 2011, Aamir said, “I hope I’m still around (at that age). I hope I keep doing a good job.”

Imran, who recently raised the drinking age controversy, said the issue was not a publicity stunt for Delhi Belly. “Delhi Belly has nothing to do with drinking age. My feeling is that curtailing somebody’s freedom is a dangerous step,” Imran said, adding, “I have never talked about the PIL on Delhi Belly platform.”

Supporting Imran, Aamir said, “It’s a youth issue. It should be completely free from Delhi Belly. Drinking should be a freedom of choice. I don’t endorse it. But at 21, if I can decide to marry then at 25 deciding to drink is much smaller issue.”

Asked about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan being dropped from Madhur Bhandarkar’s next, Heroine, for being pregnant, Aamir said, “It’s a grey area. I don’t think Aishwarya is unprofessional. I think she would not like that one person’s absence jeopardizes everybody else’s chance on the set.” Concluding the chat, the star said: “I hope people have a good time watching it (Delhi Belly).”
